What we offer

Before school

Teachers commence duty at 8:30am in the mornings. We ask that children do not arrive earlier than this time as there is no active teacher supervision.

The breakfast club is available from 8:30am in the Special Education class room. The breakfast program is available for all students and ensures that every child has a great start to their school day.

At 8:55am students assemble on the southern quadrangle, where daily organisation and messages are passed to students.

End of day

At 3:00pm students are dismissed from their classrooms. There are teachers on duty at both pedestrian crossings and bus duty.

Bus travel

All students in kindergarten, year 1 and year 2 may travel free on buses to and from school. Primary children (years 3-6) must live in excess of 1.6km from the school by the nearest practiable walking route to recieve free travel.

Students are expected to follow the Code of Conduct displayed on the bus application.

Scooters/bicycles and bicycle racks

Bicycle racks are provided at the Cheyenne Drive entrance. Security for bicycles left in these racks rests with the owner.
Students are to walk their scooters/bikes both in to and out of the school grounds.

Assembly

Whole school assembly is held every even week on a Monday. Parents and family members are most welcome and encouraged to attend.
Certificates are presented to those who have participated in school and class activities in a productive and cooperative manner. This also give classes an opportunity to perform items for their peers, parents and family. 

Support personnel and agencies

At Hume Public School support and guidance for students may be sought from:

Parents by assisting in the clasroom, supporting homework and other home learning activities, involvement in sporting activities and general support for school activities. 

Classroom teachers who provide support for all students through careful educational planning and the implementation of a variety of programs to meet students needs.

Principal and Assistant Principals inspire students, staff and members of the community to continuously enhance the learning of all and they continually strive to understand and improve their impact. They network and collaborate with a wide range of people to secure the best possible learning outcomes and wellbeing of all students.

Instructional Leader who leads professional learning for teachers so that they can provide quality learning opportunities for all students.

School Councellor who provides confidentail counselling and assessment in a range of areas which impact on student learning and success in the educational setting.

Home School Liasion Officer who monitors student attendance and provides assistance to students who experience difficulties with regular attendance at school.

Aboriginal Education Officer who assists our Indigenous students and families in a wide range of areas, helping to build a positive and supportive relationship between home and school.

Support Teacher Learning who provides specific assistance to students k-6 who may be experiencing difficulties in literacy or numeracy.

School Learning Support Officer who provide assistance to students. 

Other outside agencies such as FACS, CAMHS, AWAHS and Community Health.
